[icy veins] has very low target damage compared to discord, aoe damage from it is laughable, long recharge. As a hex to fuel Discord its redundant as well you have enough hexes already not to mention there are non-elite options that do the job better.

But if it is not armor ignoring, it may not be as useful in HM as [putrid bile].

I use [icy veins @14] for the following reasons.

It does cause damage. I know, I know, blah blah HM high armour,cold damage blah, but the damage is there, deal with it.

It also allows for AoE damage on death, which is usually very fast (see aforementioned blah blah).

It is maxed out at 14, so I'm getting all I can from it.

Also, Igor, wtf? Long recharge? 5 seconds? It has SHORT recharge and a LONG duration. hex to fuel discord.

Lack of better alternatives.
[[defiant was xinrae] - why would I use this?
[[preservation] - random heals, long cast time, long recharge. This isn't HB.
[[Spirit light weapon] - MAYBE. But I already have splinter and xinrae being thrown around, its best not to confuse things. The heals are rather insignificant due to the redbarring of other heroes and the prots coming from the MM.
[[Tranquil Was Tanasen] - no, just no.
[[Vengeful Was Khanhei] - this isnt a solo farm build.
[[weapon of remedy] - already have FF and MbnS.

[[reaper's mark] - why would I want a hex that recharges in 15s rather than one which recharges in 5? plus its redundant e-management.
[[wail of doom] - can we really expect heroes to use this at the right time?

[[caretaker's charge] - even less damage and redundant e-management.
[[clamor of souls] - again, less damage and e-management.
[[destructive was glaive]/[[Grasping Was Kuurong] - do not want heroes running into the frontline.
[[offering of spirit]/[[signet of spirits] - redundant emanagement.
[[weapon of fury] - no physicals.

[[grenth's balance] - if my hero's health is low enough for him to use this, I'm doing it wrong.

So, I get a fast recharging hex to fuel discord which does at least a small amount of damage on target and ends with another slightly larger amount of damage upon death. Without having to invest in a 4th attribute.

Now you go.

Yeah, I have been considering replacing bloodsong with recovery - you make a good point about the reliance on the 5th necro. I will change that.

WoW I always find rather clunky, but it is useful. I think I will replace AR on the last necro, as we rarely have people up front and its just more elemental damage.

There is a lot of healing and a fair amount of prot in there, but if it needed a bit more I would replace the signet on the second MM with Shield of Absorption. I know its a lifesaver.
